When Anthony Joshua revealed in 2016 that he was no longer in a relationship with the mother of his son, Nicole Osbourne, who gave birth to Joseph Joshua in October 2015, or anyone else, not many took him seriously.

The question on people’s lips was why would a rich, handsome, famous and the champion of the world not do what celebrities like him do?

His reply was that he was focused on boxing rather than any relationships. This decision didn’t change as he stayed away from any form of platonic relationships to perfect strategies for his rematch with Andy Ruiz. It paid off handsomely as he reclaimed his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts by winning unanimously on points.

There is no limit to how far parents could go in support of their children and Joshua’s mom, Yeta Odusanya is a good example.

AJ does not hide how very close he is to his mom who is a social worker.

Obviously downcast by her son’s shocking defeat against Ruiz which meant giving up his titles, Yeta was said to have reached out to friends and relatives to seek the help of anyone who could pray for her son’s victory on Saturday.A source close to her reported that though she was confident of his victory, she however needed some divine support to crown his effort. Yeta who has only attended two of Anthony’s boxing matches because they make her far too nervous and she finds it very difficult to go through them, was the happiest mom on earth when her beloved son who they still live in the same house bought for her by AJ emerged victorious at the end of the much talked about fight.

Yeta is said to still cook egusi soup, a traditional Nigerian dish which is her son Anthony’s favourite meal. The soup is usually served with pounded yam.
