Speaking with Residents and Local Business Yesterday We Learnt

1.A Barber shop and other local business are being billed upwards of 18,000Naira A Month I wonder if they are cutting the Hair of Giants !

2.A Provision Store has been presented with a Bill of 605,000 Naira !

According to Residents Interviewed

The Problem began when BEDC moved into 2nd Ubgor Road Okundia Street . ALL OF A SUDDEN 3hrs on 3hrs off electricity CEASED to 12am to 3am  6am to 9am and 6pm to 9pm !

they then moved to majority plaza on same 2nd ugbor Road and it worsened !

NOW its strictly 6pm to 9pm and 12am to 3am !

Residents claim These are deliberate Acts BY BEDC to frustrate the Community to Give them a BRIBE ! Names of BEDC Officials were raised and for legal reasons we cant publish them here

Now its a no go Area ALL DAY AS NO ELECTRICITY !

BEDC should at their leisure counter theses Claims !

St Peters Catholic Church GRA Benin City Edo State is ‘In Darkness’ As BEDC  Puts Church  Environs on Strict 6Hrs Power Everyday  .

As other Areas in GRA Edo State enjoy power some even up to 24hrs like  Osadebay Avenue Seat of The Edo State Government .

The Church is an imposing Icon in Benin City

Faithful Catholics  who usually come during the day to the imposing Church structure have complained bitterly about the electricity boycott by the BEDC Led Funke Osibodu who is Notoriously known to have Purposefully restricted Electricity to Certain Areas in Benin City for more or less egregious reasons some have purported

ResidentsGRA  were formally put on the  3hours on 3hours off structure prevalent in the Highbrow GRA in benin city   but sometime in december BEDC changed the roster and put residents on 6-9pm 12-3am  and 6am to 9am . 9hrs daily

So from 9am to 6pm EVERY DAY THE CHURCH and environs is without electricity

Recently this has been reduced to 6pm to 9pm and 12am to 3am Daily  !  they sometimes bring electricity by 6am but take it in less than 30minutes  said a resident so that we dont have light from 3am  to 6pm daily they complained .

Not just the Church but small business around the area have complained of the bitter Development .Since we work during the day clearly we cant survive as we have to run generators all day as no one has their shops open after 7pm .

This is why most businesses in that area have shutdown and closed shop and left A Resident on Obehi Street Said .To shop you have to go to Water Resources on  Adesuwa Road !

We call on Our Able Wait & See Governor to do something about this ASAP !
