Burna Boy, whose real names are Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, is the “king of Afro-pop”. He was born on July 2nd, 1991.
He had his early education in Nigeria after which he moved to London to pursue a higher degree but became a dropout afterwards. He moved back to Nigeria as a raw talent who walk into LeriQ’s studio and the outcome is what we see today.
The talented singer’s lead single ” like-to-party” which was produced by LeriQ, brought him to limelight in 2010. Olugu’s father, Benson Idonije, was a well-known radio host and the first band manager of Afrobeat artist Fela Kuti. He was a member of the illustrious Indonije family. Ogulu was motivated to pursue language studies after being exposed to the music business and the Nigerian art scene at an early age. She worked as a translator for the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce after earning a Bachelor of Arts in foreign languages and a Master of Arts in translation from the University of Port Harcourt.
Later, she was appointed CEO of Language Bridges, a language and music school, where she planned cultural immersion excursions for more than 1,800 young people from 1997 to 2015. Additionally, she spent ten years teaching French at the University of Education in Port Harcourt. Nowadays, academics and professionals can communicate in English, Yoruba, French, Italian, and German.
