The Liverpool loanee revealed an undershirt that said “96 YNWA” after scoring Blackburn’s second goal in their 2-1 win over Derby County today.

There have not been many Liverpool-related topics that have been fun to write about over the past 4 months. One of the very few exceptions to the trend has been covering Harvey Elliott making his mark on the Championship during his loan at Blackburn Rovers.

The 18-year-old winger has scored six goals and assisted another 12 over 39 games with Blackburn, to the delight of Liverpool fans everywhere. His latest goal, the winner in his team’s 2-1 victory over Derby County today, was an important one for a team that’s seen very poor recent form drop them from the promotion race to a fight to stave off relegation.

But the goal held will hold a special meaning for Liverpool fans because of the way the young Englishman chose to celebrate. After firing a left-footed shot past Derby keeper David Marshall just before halftime, Elliott removed his jersey to reveal a white shirt on which he’d written “YNWA” below the number 96, a clear tribute to the Hillsborough victims the day after the 32nd anniversary of Liverpool’s darkest day

.

After the match, the talented young winger took to Instagram to pay further tribute to the 96 innocent people who lost their lives on that tragic day.

It was a touching tribute that will further endear the exciting winger in the hearts of the Liverpool faithful. Bravo Harvey.
