Ivana Trump was one half of a publicity and business power couple alongside her ex-husband Donald Trump in the 1980s.

She was the mother of the former president’s older children and his first wife, it was Trump that announced that she had died in New York.

Ivana Trump’s life story

She was born in Czechoslovakia and was a ski racer and sometime model when she married Donald Trump in 1977.

The couple met when Ivana took a modeling trip to New York for the Olympics. When she and her friends were on a night out, they were aproached by Donald Trump who started courting her.

In her book she remembers that it wasn’t love at first sight, even though she thought that Trump was smart and funny, an all-American good guy.

“I thought, If I never see him again, it’s fine”, can be read on her book ‘Raising Trump’.

Donald Trump proposed to her unexpectedly on New Years Eve, and took care of everything for her, with Ivana writing that she only took care of the dress, while her future husband handled the rest.

When they had their first child, she revealed that the former president was hesitant about naming him Donald Trump Jr.

“What if he’s a loser?”, was Trump’s response.

Ivana had some other stories regarding their first born child, like the time the got divorced and Trump called her to say he was keeping Donald Jr., to what she responded.

“‘Okay, keep him, ‘I said. ‘I got two other kids to raise’ Ten minutes later, the bodyguard brought Don back”, she wrote.

Ivana Trump’s celebrity life

She admitted that she avoided having playdates at her huge and lavish triplex in the Trump Tower, but also confirmed that the only person who had an open invitation whenever he wanted was Michael Jackson.

She appeared in the 1996 hit film“The First Wives Club”, where one of her lines is now famous.

“Ladies, you have to be strong and independent, and remember, don’t get mad, get everything.”

Her divorce with Donald Trump

During their break up, Ivana accused Trump in a sworn statement of raping her, she would then later say that she didn’t mean it literally, but rather that she felt violated.

After their divorce the couple remained friendly with each other and was enthusiastically backing his run for president during the 2016 campaign.

She said that she advised him to keep his calm.

“But Donald cannot be calm. He’s very outspoken. He just says it as it is”, she added for the New York Post.
