The multiple award-winning singer, songwriter and performer Burna Boy has announced and confirmed the release date of his first single in 2023. The singer made the official announcement that had many excited about what to expect from him in the new year.
Burna confirmed that he would be releasing his first single of 2023 on the 2nd of June, and the song would be a sample of Brandy’s smashing hit ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World.’ The singer also confirmed that he would be releasing another song soon, although the official release date has not been confirmed yet.

Afro Nation Festival day one, held in Miami on the 28th of May 2023, was definitely an event to remember for fans and music enthusiasts who had attended the event in the US as some of the biggest artists in the afrobeats music industry had thrilled with their performances.
Day one, which Burna Boy headlined, saw the Grammy award-winning artist perform some of his greatest hits like ‘Last Last’ and also share the stage with Ghana’s Artist of the Year, Black Sherif, to perform their song ‘Second Sermon’ together.
Asake also took centre stage to perform as he delivered his dance moves and also song performances for the night, and it was obvious that the crowd’s favourite was ‘Joha.’
RZA shared massive praise for Burna Boy and his upcoming single, “Sittin’ on Top of the World.” He made the comments on Twitter, Saturday, while responding to a snippet of the track. On the new song, Burna Boy samples Brandy and Ma$e’s 1998 track, “Top of the World.”
“Burna is carving out his own unique chamber. His new splash is something special,” he wrote. Fans in his replies were mostly in agreement with the take. “Very special. Burna actually has always been a unique artist all together [sic]. “He is not a regular artist,” one wrote. “His passion for music n the dedication n range of emotions that goes into it, his music is therapeutic, healing, inspiring n motivating.”
