Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, conducted the official inauguration of 18 newly appointed Commissioners who will form the State Executive Council (SEC).
The ceremony took place at the old Council Chambers within the Government House premises in Gusau. During the event, the newly appointed commissioners were sworn in and immediately assigned their respective portfolios.
The spokesperson for the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, shared that the 18 newly appointed Commissioners represent diverse professional backgrounds. The oath of office was administered by Zamfara State Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu.
Governor Lawal emphasized the need for the inaugurated commissioners to exhibit exceptional dedication, as their performance would be assessed based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The governor stressed that their productivity would be evaluated against the responsibilities associated with their respective roles.
Additionally, Governor Lawal underscored the importance of fostering collaboration and synergy among ministries to enhance the development of Zamfara State.
The assigned portfolios for the new Commissioners are as follows:
Abdula’aziz Sani Muhammad (SAN) – Justice
Haruna Ya’u – Agriculture
Abdulmalik Gajam – Budget and Planning
Abdulrahman Muhammad Tumbido – Commerce, Industry and Tourism
Mallam Wadatau Madawaki – Education, Science, and Technology
Mahmud Muhammad Abdullahi Bello Auta – Environment and Natural Resources
Dr. Aisha MZ Anka – Health
Mannir Haidara – Information and Culture
Hon. Kabiru Moyi – Housing and Urban Development
Engr. Ahmed Yandi – Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
Sulaiman Adamu Gummi – Religious Affairs
Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun – Women Affairs and Social Development
Lawal Barau – Works and Infrastructure
Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi – Youth and Development
Amb. Bala Mai Riga – Ministry of Internal Security
The Governor’s Office is overseeing two ministries with multifaceted responsibilities, including the supervision of government policies. These include Nasiru Ibrahim Zurmi – Budget Implementation Unit/Office of the Governor, and Salisu Musa Tsafe – Humanitarian and Relief Matters/Office of the Governor.
