As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to wreak havoc around the world, 311 Nigerians have arrived in the capital Abuja, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Nigerian Indigenous Peoples Organization (NIDCOM) made the announcement on Saturday, on its Twitter account. With this the number of Nigerians deported from the UAE is 2,353 while the rest of the Nigerians trapped in the kingdom are expected to be repatriated.
“The Fly Emirates flight carrying 311 passengers arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 11:50 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2020, from the UAE,” NIDCOM said. The returnees are expected to be able to stay in solitary confinement to meet the requirements of the Presidential Commission and the NCDC to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The returnees were tested and found to be free of COVID-19, but will still be locked up for 14 days to confirm the test. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 around the world, thousands of Nigerians living abroad have been successfully repatriated. In early June, the federal government said it had spent N169m on transporting Nigerians from home to Nigeria.

The governor of Abia state, southeast Nigeria, Okezie Ikpeazu, has blamed the lack of development in Abia on Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Reach.ng reports that Governor Ikpeazu made this comment while addressing journalists in Umuahia, the Abia State, where he lamented that the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has abandoned Abia state because of the IPOB leader.
The Abia State Governor said Kanu is the reason he has not developed Abia and completed some of the projects he promised to do because each time approaches the Federal Government to “demand money, they always tell me that my state is harbouring terrorists.”
This online news platform understands that Nnamdi Kanu is from Isiama Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State. Kanu who is a Prince, has been on exile since he resurfaced in Israel two years ago. He lost his parents last year.
The IPOB leader failed to attend the burial of his parents, Eze Israel Okwu Kanu (JP) and Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu. His father, Eze Kanu was the king of Isiama Afara Ukwu, however, since his burial, the kingdom has remained without a king as Kanu’s younger brother cannot be crowned a king according to the tradition when Nnamdi Kanu is still alive.
Reacting to the continuous refusal of the IPOB leader to return to Nigeria, Governor Ikpeazu lamented that Nnamdi Kanu “committed an offense and ran away before the unfortunate death of his father,” an offence he said has cost Abia State a lot.
His words: ”I have decided to take the final decision as the executive Governor of Abia state.
“Nnamdi Kanu has done harms to Abia State! He is the reason I didn’t develop Abia and complete some of the projects I promised to do because each time I go to the FG to demand money, they always tell me that my state is harbouring Terrorists.
“Nnamdi committed an offence and ran away before the unfortunate death of his father. Now it’s time to take a decision.
If after 21 days from now and he fails to come back and be crowned the king of Ibeku, I will have no option than to appoint a king myself and whoever I appoint must remain till I leave the office.
“I am the most powerful man in Abia and whatever decision I take must stand,” he stated.

Bayern was too strong. The Bavarian club has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League at the expense of a Chelsea side which had many injuries. More than the 3-0 winner in the first leg, Bayern Munich once again beat Chelsea on the return leg. The Bavarian club qualified for the quarter-finals of Champions League at the expense of the Blues and Robert Lewandowski took the opportunity to improve his stats.
From the 8th minute, the prolific Polish scorer was hooked in the opponent’s box by Caballero and did himself justice by deceiving the experienced London goalkeeper, The Blues, who had lost Azpilicueta, Pulisic and Pedro to injury in the FA Cup final against Arsenal, were slow to react in an experimental set-up.
The Munich team took advantage in the 24th minute by exploiting a loss of ball from Mateo Kovacic after which Lewandowski served Perisic, whose uncontrolled recovery was lodged in the back of the visitors’ nets. The winning recovery of Tammy Abraham allowed his team to reduce the score (2-1) just before the break. Corentin Tolisso also helped his team 15 minutes to the end of the match (3-1). The French slammed scored a nice goal. Lewandowski was not yet satisfied. The Pole, involved in each of Bayern’s goals in this generous double confrontation against Chelsea, added a new personal achievement with 7 minutes remaining. A superb header on a service from Odriozola for 4-1, which will also be the final score.
